Recreation Program Parents Guide

Recreation Program Players / Parent Guide

Welcome to the Manalapan Soccer Club!

Due to the pandemic, there will be no coaches this season.  Professional trainers will be running all training sessions and games.  We may ask for volunteers, but will do so as needed.

COVID-19 Information
We will be following all local / state guidelines in addition to the "Return to Play" guidelines set by N.J. Youth Soccer.  Full information will be provided prior to the first session.

IMPORTANT!

All players will need a COVID-19 form for every session.  Parents are required to bring a completed form to each session.  Forms are available on the website under the tab COVID-19 DOCUMENTATION.

What the Players Need

All players need to wear their full soccer uniform to both the training sessions and the games:

  • Cleats - soccer cleats with rounded studs - NO FOOTBALL CLEATS

  • Black soccer socks, to be worn over the shin guards and completely covering the shin guards

Volunteer Work:  The normal volunteer bond that we normally collect will be waived for this season.  There may be a few volunteer opportunities, but we will ask at that time.

Training:  Training to be provided by Shatliff Soccer.

The Games: Please see MSC Rules of competition, which covers all parts of Rec Games.

Playing Time: At the recreation level, all players MUST play at least 50% of the game.

    Goal Safety
It is imperative that the goals are checked at each and every practice as well as before each game.  It is important to make sure the goals are anchored to the ground and will not fall over during use.  Moving goals during games and practices are prohibited for the safety of the players.  Goals on Field A at the Rec Center are not to be moved onto the fields as it causes unwanted wear and tear on the turf field that will cause surface issues and a risk for injury.

    Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the Board members at the fields?
At each game or training session there should be at least 1 MSC Board member.  Board members should be identified by their red MSC Board Shirt or red shirt at the fields.

Why are we playing 4v4, 7v7, or 9v9??
Short answer - With small-sided standards, what we're trying to do is to help players develop by putting them in an environment where they are constantly involved in the play.  Long answer - https://www.usyouthsoccer.org/changes_coming_to_youth_soccer_in_2016/

    How do you pick teams?
Each season MSC asks the coaches to rate their team.  MSC uses that information when putting the teams together the following season.  MSC and Shatliff Soccer are working on providing the format that will be used each week at training,  That information will be provided at the beginning of the season. Shatliff Soccer and MSC are working on improving the consistency of training across the board.

    Cancellations because of weather.
    M
SC tries to stick to the schedule laid out at the beginning of the season.  Field space is limited and adding makeup games at the end does not always work.
